Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets just had a tough loss at home to the Dallas Mavericks after former Nets’ guard Spencer Dinwiddie hit a buzzer-beating three to cancel out a three made by KD with 10 seconds to go and clinch the win for the Mavericks.
Home games have been a mixed bag for the Nets, as the advantage of playing in front of your own fans gets canceled out by the disadvantage of Kyrie Irving not being vaccinated. The atmosphere in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn can be tense because of the elephant in the room that is Kyrie Irving.
The Nets were doing well and took a commanding lead in the third quarter of the game, but it was cut down by the Mavericks through the fourth quarter. At that point, a fan asked KD to take over the game and lead the Nets to a win. Durant turned around and asked the fan to shut the f**k up and sit down. Ouch.
Somehow this got reported? But my wife is just like KD when I say I’m getting one more drink. pic.twitter.com/qcNZygISMm

There didn’t seem to be animosity between KD and the fan during the interaction, so this could be Durant being playful with some strong language. The fact that KD may have been joking when this happened gets further reinforced by him quote tweeting the video and acting embarrassed about it getting the traction it has.

KD did his best to take over the game, but Dallas’s defensive schemes kept thwarting him and forcing him to pass the ball out to others. He ended up with just 20 points on 8/20 shooting, not a stat-line that Durant puts up often.
The Nets had many players have solid nights, but having a player like Kyrie Irving would have made a world of difference today. The Nets need every win they can get in their quest for the 6th seed, and this loss will sting for a bit.
