Last night, Karl-Anthony Towns had what is, without a shadow of a doubt, the greatest game of his career up to this point. Towns scored 60 points against the San Antonio Spurs, setting a new career-high for himself, while also setting the new season-high among all NBA players this season.

KAT has been sensational this season and has really come into his own as an All-Star. And by scoring 60 points last night, Towns did something that hasn’t been done in 22 years. Towns became the first center since Shaquille O’Neal to score 60 points in a game.

Shaq scored 61 points against the LA Clippers in 2000. Many consider his performance that night as his best scoring showcase throughout his legendary career. For KAT to be the first NBA center since Shaq to achieve this is truly impressive, especially considering the incredible centers that the league has seen in the years between the two games.

NBA fans reacted to KAT’s incredible game online, with many noting that he was unguardable and unstoppable throughout the entire night. Karl-Anthony Towns had an incredible night, making 7 of his 11 attempted threes. This performance only lends further credence to the argument that Towns is the best shooting big since Dirk Nowitzki.

Karl-Anthony Towns has been a big reason for the Timberwolves’ improvement this season. The Timberwolves are currently the 7th seed in the Western Conference and are on track to make the NBA playoffs for the first time in 4 years. If Minnesota finds any success in the playoffs, it will be thanks to KAT.

Towns and Anthony Edwards have formed quite an impressive pair, with the two young stars establishing themselves as the exciting young core Minnesota builds around. If the Timberwolves make the right moves over the next few years, they could find success the likes of which they haven’t seen since the days of Kevin Garnett.
