Veteran big man Aaron Gordon has found a long-term basketball home in Denver, where he has become an NBA champion alongside his frontcourt teammate, Nikola Jokic. But even before the championship and his rise to becoming one of the league’s top role-players, Gordon was still getting the celebrity treatment. In an appearance on the ‘Curious Mike’ podcast, Gordon explained his worst dating experience so far, which involved a gold-digger who couldn’t hide her true intentions.

“I went on a date with this girl one time, might have been in like Chicago or something, like that,” said Gordon. “We go on this date and we just sit at the bar waiting at the table, getting drinks. She opened up her phone and the last thing she had on her phone was ‘Aaron Gordon’s net worth.’ I was like ‘yo this is wild!'”

Aaron Gordon is worth roughly $50 million today, which is obviously life-changing money for any potential partner. Whether the woman was just doing her research or was only in it for the money, it must have been an awkward moment when he caught a glimpse at her search history. Aaron did not elaborate further on what happened after, but the relationship just wasn’t meant to be considering he cut all ties with her in favor of his current partner.

NBA Fans React To AG’s Date Gone Wrong

Aaron Gordon isn’t a star in the NBA, but he’s earned enough in his career to last a lifetime, and money like that has a tendency to attract the wrong kind of people. Fortunately for Gordon, he’s found a woman worth committing to and it’s safe to say he dodged a bullet.

On social media, fans had plenty to say about the story and some even made a joke about the situation.

The power and influence of money can make people do crazy things and for an athlete like Gordon, protecting that money can become quite a challenge.

It’s possible that the girl was genuinely interested in Gordon, but it’s no doubt a major red flag to be thinking about someone’s financial worth on the first date.

It’s good that Gordon can look back and laugh at the moment, and it’s even better that he’s now thriving both on and off the court. Of course, Gordon is far from the only player to deal with things like this and he actually had it pretty good compared to we’ve seen in the past.

NBA Relationships Are Unstable?

When it comes to the rich and famous, they tend to play by different rules than everybody else. NBA legend Gilbert Arenas once claimed that 70% of NBA girlfriends will cheat on their partners with another player, sometimes even a teammate. Occasionally, you’ll also see encounters between a player and his competitor’s girlfriend, like what happened in the 2007-08 season between LeBron James and Chris Bosh.

In more modern times, things have gotten downright ugly behind the scenes, with several players such as Miles Bridges, Kevin Porter Jr., and Josh Giddey getting into major controversies over their personal relationships. Needless to say, the dating game is a different world for professional athletes and they have to guard their wealth in a way that some people just don’t understand.
