Though point guard Ja Morant is the face of the Memphis Grizzlies and is well-known for his basketball ability, he has recently received a lot of negative coverage due to things he has been doing off the court.
Ja Morant has recently been caught brandishing a gun on Instagram live, and there’s no doubt that this is something that will have serious repercussions. In fact, the Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly concerned that the league will come down hard on him following the incident. Adam Silver recently shared his feelings about the situation, noting that he was “shocked” when presented with the video.
“Honestly, I was shocked when I saw this weekend — that video. Now, we’re in the process of investigating it.”

There’s no doubt that Adam Silver isn’t a fan of Ja Morant’s actions. It will be interesting to see what his punishment ends up being, but a suspension seems fairly likely.
In the playoffs, Ja Morant averaged 24.6 PPG, 6.8 RPG, and 7.0 APG for the Memphis Grizzlies. He is clearly an All-NBA-level player, and hopefully, he can stay out of trouble in the future and reach his potential.
Stephen A. Smith Went Off On Ja Morant Following His Second Gun Incident
There is no doubt that Ja Morant’s actions off the court are definitely concerning, and he has deservedly received a lot of criticism. In fact, Stephen A. Smith questioned why Ja Morant was “walking around with a gun in broad daylight” in the first place.
“It’s his second gun issue. Why are you walking around with a gun in broad daylight? What kind of life are you living? Who are you hanging around? What are you subjecting yourself to that you’ve got to worry about what the hell is going on in your life? These are legitimate questions to be asked. It doesn’t make us the villain, we’re trying to look out… he just doesn’t want to listen. And I find it more than a bit coincidental that the not listening part has kicked in after you got five years, potentially $231 million.”
It is clear that some of what Ja Morant is doing off the court is unacceptable. The Grizzlies need that sort of behavior to change before they can seriously compete for a championship, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
