As a franchise that has seen virtually no playoff success in its existence, the Charlotte Hornets are in desperate need of a win. Going back to the 2023 NBA Draft, most fans thought Scoot Henderson was the best solution for the Hornets, but they drafted Brandon Miller instead and it sent shockwaves throughout the NBA community

But as the Hornets get blamed and criticized for their pick, ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski decided to look on the bright side to defend the Hornets and their decision at no. 2.

“I think Brandon Miller certainly makes a lot of sense at that spot. Prototypical big wing player that every great team in the league has. From Jayson Tatum to Kawhi Leonard, he’s a player that I think for Charlotte, allows them to kind of grow with what’s still a very young core. You talk to teams who have done their research on him already, serious-minded, great feel for the game, great passer, really good defender.”

Miller is a typical 3-and-D style wing similar to Paul George. In one season at Alabama, he averaged 18.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game on 43% shooting.

While Scoot may have a higher ceiling, Miller’s fit with LaMelo Ball is undoubtedly more ideal and eliminates the potential of a log jam in the backcourt.

Drafting Brandon Miller Was MJ’s Final Decision As Hornets Owner

As the Hornets prepare for next season, they will be adjusting to a change at the top. After years as the team’s majority owner, Michael Jordan is set to step down and sell his team for over $1 billion. Drafting Miller was actually one of his last big decisions, and fans are hoping it’s a good one.

With LaMelo, Brandon Miller, and Miles Bridges, the Hornets might finally be building something special in Charlotte. Now, all they need to do is stay patient and develop their players to start seeing results.

Because no matter what happens with Scoot Henderson, the Hornets will need the best from Brandon Miller if they want to start earning some respect in the East.
