Adrian Wojnarowski On Senator Scandal: ‘I Was Disrespectful And I Made A Regrettable Mistake’

2 Min Read

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski made the headlines on Friday and not precisely for throwing one of his famous ‘Woj bombs’. The NBA insider got himself in trouble when he sent an email to a US Senator, cursing him for asking the NBA why they wouldn’t allow phrases like “Support Our Troops” and “Back the Blue” on their jerseys in 2020.

Players will wear messages against social injustices on their jerseys once the NBA returns and Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley wanted to know why they didn’t add more messages. Woj wasn’t happy with that and he sent a profane email to Hawley, who revealed the message on Twitter.

Woj didn’t have more remedy than to apologize, saying “I know my actions were unacceptable” in a statement.

“I was disrespectful and I made a regrettable mistake. I’m sorry for the way I handled myself and I am reaching out immediately to Senator Hawley to apologize directly. I also need to apologize to my ESPN colleagues because I know my actions were unacceptable and should not reflect any of them.”

ESPN also issued a statement Wojnarowski’s behavior “completely unacceptable”.

Some fans believe his job is on the line, but the network hasn’t announced anything yet. Wojnarowski is one of the best insiders in the NBA but that doesn’t mean he can’t lose his job over this email.
