Draymond Green declined his player option for the 2023-24 season and has become a free agent, in a move that many were expecting. This doesn’t mean that he will leave the Golden State Warriors, but it certainly increases the possibility of that.

Draymond has been linked with the Los Angeles Lakers a lot over the last year. A lot of that has to do with his relationship with LeBron James. But according to Adrian Wojnarowski, his suitors at the moment are some other teams.

“There’ll be teams with salary cap space, like the Detroit Pistons from his home state of Michigan,” Wojnarowski said. “And other teams who don’t have salary cap space, mostly among contenders who would love to have Draymond Green.

“They’d need to work a sign-and-trade with the Warriors. And you could go through teams like Dallas, Phoenix, the Memphis Grizzlies, the Miami Heat, there will be no shortage of contenders who would love to find a way to get Draymond Green.

“But I think there’s ultimately a magnet between Draymond Green and the Warriors that will keep them talking and get them back toward trying to find a deal to keep him in the Bay Area.”

Draymond Green averaged 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists for the Warriors last season. He can do a little bit of everything on the court, and his defense would be immense for any contending team as well. He also has a championship pedigree and high-level experience. It’s hard to see the Warriors letting him walk, but if they do, then any of the teams mentioned above are great potential destinations.

Draymond Green Is Expected To Stay With The Warriors

Draymond Green has been a Golden State Warrior his entire career, and he has helped take the franchise to glorious new heights. As such, it is impossible to imagine him playing elsewhere, and as per an earlier report from Wojnarowski, it is also unlikely

“These are two sides that very much want to get a deal done. Draymond and Rich Paul are not posturing and threatening to go elsewhere, even though there are great options out there for them… I think there’s a desire on both sides to stay together, they want each other. For Draymond Green, the idea of continuing with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Steve Kerr, it means the world to him.”

If the Warriors keep Draymond Green, they will surely be championship contenders once again next season. If they don’t and he ends up on a team like the Mavericks or the Suns, it would make the Western Conference interesting, to say the least.
