For all the "Street Clothes" jokes, Anthony Davis has played more games in the last seven seasons than superstars like Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

Anthony Davis has faced a lot of ridicule over the last few seasons for all the games he has missed due to injuries. Charles Barkley infamously gave him the nickname “Street Clothes” in 2021 and it has stuck with Davis ever since.

For all the time he has missed, though, Davis has still rather surprisingly played more than games that superstars like Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Joel Embiid have in the last seven seasons.

There is no denying the fact that Davis is injury-prone, but he’s hardly the only star who is. The fact that he is on the Los Angeles Lakers and is a teammate of LeBron James just means everything about him gets amplified. When he plays well, he is showered with perhaps a bit too much praise, but when he struggles or misses time with yet another injury, he gets absolutely blasted.

Anthony Davis Might Not Be Getting An Extension This Summer

In the 56 games that he did play last season, Davis averaged 25.9 PPG, 12.5 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1.1 SPG, and 2.0 BPG. He was arguably the best defensive player in the playoffs as well, but it appears an extension might not be on the cards for him.

Davis would be eligible to sign a three-year deal worth close to $170 million on August 4th, but a Western Conference executive believes the Lakers would be reluctant to give it to him due to all the injury concerns. The executive believes the only way a deal would get done is if Davis takes less than that max.

GM Rob Pelinka was full of praise for AD recently, but actions speak louder than words and we’ll find out soon enough just how much the Lakers like him.
