The Los Angeles Lakers have moved one step closer to an incredible Western Conference Finals appearance after beating the Golden State Warriors in Game 4 to take a 3-1 series lead.

Anthony Davis prudently reminded the fans and media after the game that no series is won in three games and that the Warriors have shown in the past that they can come back from a 3-1 series deficit.

It is important for the Lakers to continue having a healthy level of fear of Golden State. They are an incredibly resilient team with one of the longest-standing cores in the league, head coach included. They’re battle-tested and will not roll over in Game 5, so the Lakers still haven’t finished the job with this 3-1 lead.

Can The 2023 Warriors Complete A 3-1 Comeback?

The team that Anthony Davis is referring to with the 3-1 comeback over the OKC Thunder in 2016 is not the same as the current team. The only players still here from then are the big three of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, along with Andre Iguodala, who’s not played in this series.

This Warriors team isn’t coming off a 3-1 series lead and isn’t facing a slowly discombobulating Thunder team led by Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. LeBron James and AD have title-winning experience together and will hope to keep the Lakers even-keel heading into the final games of the series.

Winning Game 5 in the Chase Center will not be easy for the Lakers, so this series is definitely not over just yet. If LA prioritizes coming out with energy and putting pressure on Golden State from the opening tip, this series may be a gentlemen’s sweep in LA’s favor.

Game 4 was a war that the Lakers closed out behind a sensational performance from Lonnie Walker IV in the fourth quarter.
