On the court, the Minnesota Timberwolves haven’t played like contenders. At just 17-21 on the season, they have disappointed many fans with their play over the last three months.

Even off the court, there have been issues for the Wolves. Rudy Gobert seems highly disliked in the locker room, D’Angelo Russell lacks any leadership ability, and even the morals of the team’s biggest star have been called into question at one point.

On Instagram Sunday afternoon, Edwards used a homophobic slur in one of his story posts, and fans were quick to call him out for it.

Edwards has gotten a pass to say he’s one of the best players in the league, for saying he should have succeeded in every sport, but this time, he took things too far and fans instantly called him out for his questionable comments. After Redditor ‘IHateNull’ shared the video, everybody was pissed with the former Rookie of the Year candidate.

What I said was immature, hurtful, and disrespectful, and I’m incredibly sorry. It’s unacceptable for me or anyone to use that language in such a hurtful way, there’s no excuse for it, at all. I was raised better than that!

Edwards apologized for the scandal and has since moved on, but it wouldn’t be the last time he would get involved with the LGBTQ movement.

Anthony Edwards Gives A Statement To LGBTQ Fans In Minnesota

After several weeks, most fans have already “forgiven” Edwards for his slip-up earlier in the season, but he made sure to show his support for the LGBTQ community.

“Come support,” Edwards said. “You know, what I did is behind us. It’s all love. Just come support, man. Have fun at the game and I’m going to put on a show for you guys. We got something going in Minnesota, me and my guys,” Edwards said. “We’re trying to figure it out, and the team is helping me also.”

Ant is quickly becoming a fan favorite across the association. As a natural leader and ultra-competitive athlete, he’s going to be one of the faces of basketball one day.

Right now, though, his biggest worry is weathering the storm for his struggling team and ensuring things are facing in the right direction when Karl-Anthony Towns finally makes his return later this season.
