Paul George has agreed to a new deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, his agent has informed. George comes from a very disappointing season with the Clips, underperforming during the 2020 NBA playoffs, earning a lot of criticism from fans and media members given his performances with the team last season.

PG recently stated he wanted to retire a Clipper and this contract will get him closer to that goal. He will have a new player option in 2024/25 after agreeing to a 4-year deal that will guarantee him $226 million for the next five years.

The Clippers are extending George’s contract for an additional four years, $190M on top of the $35.4M guaranteed him in the 2020-2021 season. George will have a new player option before the 2024-2025 season, Mintz said. https://t.co/3zrOc53WFT

Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank issued a statement after the news saw the light.

“This is an important moment for our franchise and our fans, to secure a long-term commitment from one of the premier two-way players in the NBA. We aspire to create a destination for players, an environment where they can succeed and enjoy their success. We’re delighted by Paul’s pride in representing Clippers fans, honored that he trusts the organization with this chapter of his career, and share in his relentless pursuit of championships. We admire his talent, his dedication and his unwavering allegiance to this region. We’re excited for the opportunity to accomplish our mutual goals together.

Paul is one of the best and most versatile players in the league, and he has been for about a decade,” said Clippers head coach Ty Lue. “He can play on or off the ball. He can score in a variety of different ways. And he can guard almost every position on the court. His skill and leadership will be integral to everything we do for many years to come. I’m thrilled we can continue to build with PG.”

PG is ready to continue his career with the Clippers alongside Kawhi Leonard. They are entering a season full of pressure after their fiasco in the Orlando bubble. PG is ready to take on the new challenge and the Clippers are happy to keep them on the roster for the next five years.
