With the COVID-19 vaccine being given all over the country, it seems like things are getting close to going back to normal. Of course, for the NBA, they want nothing more than for this COVID situation to die down.
But until this pandemic is really stopped, it’s always going to be a major issue.
Even now, the Boston Celtics are making headlines after their GM and President, Danny Ainge, went on the record to say that some of the players don’t want the vaccine at all.
“I’ve talked to a handful,” Ainge said on Thursday, speaking to 98.5’s Toucher & Rich. “Most of them are getting it, yes, eventually in the next couple of weeks here. But yeah, I think there will be at least a couple that don’t want to get it.”
Obviously, what someone chooses to do in regards to the vaccine is their business, which is why they will remain nameless. The league can’t (and shouldn’t) force anyone to get the shot anyway.
But it just goes to show how controversial the topic really is, and the general distrust of some in the safety and contents of the vaccine.
Interestingly enough, the Celtics have been the team most hardly-hit by COVID, with Marcus Smart and Jayson Tatum having had their own experience testing positive. Most of those players have had a front-row seat to the impact of the virus.
Doesn’t mean they’re willing to take the vaccine…
