Charles Barkley is known for three things. The first is being one of the greatest basketball players ever. The second is for being an incredible entertainer and one of the biggest faces of NBA media. And the third is a tie between his love of golf and his love of gambling. This story ties in both golf and gambling.

As reported by Essentially Sports, “NBA Basketball great, Chris Webber won a $50,000 bet with former NBA star Charles Barkley, to go to his favorite charity on the final day of the American Century Championship golf held at Edgewood golf course on the shore of South Lake Tahoe. The event was for Dan Marino’s Autism Speaks charity.”

Celebrities often play golf against one another for charity, and this was one of those cases. Trust Charles Barkley to bet $50,000, considering how much he has always enjoyed wagering large amounts of money. The fact that it went to a charity, though, is a heartwarming end to the story.

During the 90s, there was a lot of talk about gambling, with Michael Jordan receiving heavy scrutiny for his habits. But Charles Barkley has often been unapologetic about what he enjoys doing, no matter how much it costs him.

Charles Barkley Has Admitted That He Has Lost $1 Million 10-15 Times In His Life While Gambling

Charles Barkley has gambled a lot at casinos during his life, he has quite a few stories of losing a lot of cash. And for a while, it got so bad, that he even quit, although that didn’t last. He revealed that he’s lost a million dollars in a night many times in his career

“I’ve won a million dollars probably four or five times in a single day. I’ve lost a lot more millions in a single day, I’ve lost a million dollars at least 10 to 15, somewhere in there. I probably only won a million five or six times. I’ve lost somewhere between 10 and 20, I can’t get an exact number because we are going back to the ’80s.”

Charles Barkley eventually accepted that he just enjoys gambling and has continued to do it despite the losses he suffered. While the money doesn’t always go to charity, the thrill is clearly in the activity itself.
