• Charles Oakley has come out and criticized Charles Barkley

• Oakley says Barkley talks more trash now than he did as a player

• Oakley did admit that Barkley was a great player and a superstar on the court

Charles Barkley is one of the most popular basketball figures in the world, parlaying his MVP-winning NBA career into a terrific career on television as an analyst. Barkley’s trash talk on TV to his co-hosts and modern players is a part of his appeal, but Charles Oakley isn’t a fan of that due to Barkley not acting that way when he was a player. He claimed Barkley talks now because he’s free to talk.

“Undersized. Great player… he’s a superstar. I think, as a person, I think he talked too much, and he talked now [but] he didn’t talk when we played back in the day. He talked now because it’s free to talk. Because back then, if you’ve been talking, somebody would hit him in the head like I did a lockout… I’ll get him in the head.”

Oakley was a notorious enforcer on the court, often willing to scrap with any opposing player in the rough-and-tumble ’90s era. He’s best known for his stints with the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks.

He enjoyed a 19-year career in the NBA, where he averaged 9.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

Charles Barkley And Charles Oakley Do Not Get Along

Even though Oakley gave Barkley the credit he deserves as a player, this isn’t the first time the former Knicks has criticized the now ‘Inside the NBA’ host. The pair got into a notorious scuffle in 1998, where Oakley ‘slapped the sh*t’ out of Barkley

Barkley, a former league MVP, has also previously been challenged to a boxing match by Oakley. The offer was also extended to Shaquille O’Neal, a bizarre request from a former NBA colleague.

Oakley has also been heavily critical of Barkley’s relationship with Michael Jordan. He has repeatedly stated that Barkley and Jordan will never be on good terms again, which shows there are clear lines between these players. They don’t need to get along, but it would be nice to see that era of players be more of a brotherhood now.
