FX on Hulu’s ‘Clipped’ miniseries has proven to be a hit thus far and a segment from it recently went viral on social media. In the clip, Doc Rivers, who Laurence Fishburne plays, can be seen cooking various Los Angeles Clippers players during a practice session.

I think it’s safe to say a lot has been exaggerated in this series, as there is no way Rivers would have spoken to his team in this manner. Had he ever told Matt Barnes that part about his wife leaving him, a fight would have certainly broken out.
At no point was it indicated, though, that this was a documentary of some sort, so you should expect them to add in things to spice it up a little bit. The series premiered on June 4, 2024, with episodes titled “White Party” and “A Blessing and a Curse” released that day. Four more are set to come out, with the last episode scheduled for July 2.
This miniseries focuses on the infamous Donald Sterling scandal from 2014. Sterling was the owner of the Clippers at the time and a recording was released by TMZ of him making racist remarks. He had made those remarks while speaking to his alleged mistress V. Stiviano, who was recording him without his knowledge. How TMZ obtained that audio, still remains unclear.
It was released during the Clippers’ first-round series against the Golden State Warriors, leaving Rivers and his players in a very difficult spot. There was even talk of the team boycotting Game 4 of the series, but they went ahead with it. The players did, however, protest by wearing their warm-up shirts inside out and then dumping them on the center of the court.
While the games went on, Sterling’s days as owner were numbered. Just a few days later, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced that he had been banned for life from the league and was going to be forced to sell the team.
While Sterling resisted for a bit, he eventually relented and Steve Ballmer purchased the Clippers for $2 billion. While the franchise hasn’t won a championship yet under Ballmer, it is safe to say he has been a much better owner than Sterling in every way possible.
Chris Paul Found The ‘Clipped’ Series Cringey
Chris Paul played for the Clippers when that scandal broke out and during a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, he was asked about his thoughts on ‘Clipped.’
“I’mma keep it 100 with ya,” Paul said. “Me and my wife watched the first episode, right? And it was kinda cringey. Honestly, because you’ve got somebody who’s telling their vantage point… One perspective… I seen my wife kicking it with Donald Sterling’s wife, and I was like, ‘What? That ain’t never happened!'”

Paul, who J. Alphonse Nicholson plays, revealed he was not consulted in any way for the series and had no idea what was going to happen next. He also added that Sterling did not hold a “white party” when he was on the team, as was depicted in the first episode.
Considering all of what Paul said, you should probably take a lot of what you see with a grain of salt. Many things might have just never happened at all and were added purely to make it more entertaining, which isn’t really a surprise.
