Damian Lillard’s future with Portland depends on what the franchise decides to do with their No. 3 overall draft pick.

Per ClutchPoints’ Erik Slater, “Haynes on Lillard’s feelings about Portland and the 3rd pick: Based off what he’s said, if they keep that pick, whether it’s Scoot or anybody else, I think a serious conversation will be had about potentially parting ways.”

Much has been made of Lillard’s future in recent times regarding his time with the Blazers. While they didn’t land Victor Wembanyama as the No. 1 pick, they did land the No. 3 pick and with Scoot Henderson touted to be their choice. The front office is looking to construct a solid contender around the point guard.

However, for the Blazers to land a solid superstar around Lillard, they will have to do away with their pick, and package it with the likes of maybe an Anferenee Simons.

On his part, Lillard has maintained that he wants to give it another run with Portland. With Jerami Grant and Jusuf Nurkic in the mix, they will look to land a superstar that makes them legitimate title contenders.

The Blazers Might Trade Damian Lillard To The East If He Asks For A Trade

Per NBA insider Chris Haynes, chances are that the Blazers might send Lillard to the East if he asks for a way out.

“If it gets to that point, they would consult with Dame. He’s been there 10 years, he’s been a model citizen, represented that city and organization with class. I think they would try to get him where he wants to go in the East.”

Lillard’s numbers make him an asset wherever he does play. The 2022-23 season saw him average 32.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 7.3 APG for the Blazers this season. This saw him make the third All-NBA team.
