After another subpar season, the Portland Trail Blazers have become the laughingstock of the NBA and fans are begging for Damian Lillard to get out. This summer, even more than others, the push for Dame to get traded has been in full force and various reports suggested that Portland may be open to moving him for the right deal.
But as one insider pointed out on Twitter this week, Lillard doesn’t sound like a man who is looking for a new team. In fact, Dame has apparently been actively recruiting free agents to the organization this summer.
“FWIW – I’ve heard that Lillard has been actively recruiting FAs to Portland still. Which, would be a little weird for a guy setting up his exit.”

The free agent market isn’t laden with superstars, but there are a few players who could help out the Blazers. Kelly Oubre Jr. could help bring shot-making on the perimeter, and Rui Hachimura could give them some much-needed size and wing depth.
The biggest question of all, of course, is what happens with their no. 3 pick. With the option to pick up Scoot Henderson in play, that pick has a lot of value and what they do with it will very likely determine the direction of the franchise for years to come.
Lillard Wants Blazers To Trade The Pick
At 32 years old, Damian Lillard doesn’t have time to wait around and wait for young rookies to learn the game. He needs to make a run now if he wants any chance of winning a ring and the Blazers (for now) seem committed to that goal.
If the right offer comes along, expect Portland to part with the pick and go all-in on winning a championship with Lillard at the helm.
Last season was his best year yet with averages of 32.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game on 46.3% shooting.
