  • Damian Lillard has still not been traded to the Miami Heat despite his trade request
  • He posted a story on Instagram that called him a ‘future Miami Heat legend’
  • Damian Lillard then deleted the story and fans had a lot to say about it

Damian Lillard has made it clear that he only wants to play for one team next season, and that’s the Miami Heat. Despite the Portland Trail Blazers being unable to find a suitable trade package, Dame’s resolve to join Miami hasn’t lessened.

On Friday, Damian Lillard posted an Instagram story that had a picture of him and referred to him as a ‘Miami Heat legend.’ The story got deleted, but not before going viral on social media.

This is very presumptuous of Damian Lillard to post, and it can mean one of two things. There is a chance that a trade is now closer than it was before, which is why he posted it. That’s what the Miami Heat fans will be hoping.

The second likelihood is that he’s doing it to put more pressure on the Trail Blazers organization, although that doesn’t seem like it’s going to work at this point. In any case, the fans who saw it sure have a lot to say about it.

NBA Fans On Social Media Reacted To Damian Lillard’s Story

Damian Lillard was the talk of the town around the NBA when his trade request first became public knowledge, but the story has since fizzled out. And fans don’t appreciate this stance from him, with one fan putting it simply.

he’s getting lamer & lamer day by day.

Whatever his reason for posting the story was, he deleted it quickly. The fact that pages on social media are posting it and bringing attention to it has also rubbed some fans the wrong way.

Y’all tryna get dame fined. Fans are weird.

While many fans are debating whether it is right or wrong for Lillard to have posted this, one fan doesn’t think that Lillard getting traded to the Heat even makes that much of a difference to them.

He doesn’t take them over the hump even if he is traded there

And while Blazers fans in the early days didn’t want to see Lillard get his wish after he got in the way of other trades, now a few fans just want to see the entire saga simply come to an end.

Just send that man to Miami. It’s getting tired at this point, damn 😂

This entire situation has cost Damian Lillard a lot of goodwill, and it’s only bound to get worse moving forward. At this point, his only hope is that the Heat can trade for him because he has lost a fair few fans with his antics this offseason.

Damian Lillard Will Reportedly Not Attend Training Camp If He Is Traded Anywhere Else

The Damian Lillard situation has raised a lot of questions about player power again, but he isn’t too worried about the larger optics of it all. Damian Lillard will not report to training camp anywhere other than Miami, as per reports.

“Expect Portland and Miami to re-engage before the start of training camp that’s coming up in the next two and a half weeks,” Shams Charania said.

“Really, at this point, I’m told that the only two training camps that Damian Lillard would report to, in theory: Portland and Miami.”

Damian Lillard has cultivated the image of a loyal superstar in Portland, but that has been washed away this offseason with the way he has acted.

In the interest of all parties, though, hopefully, this is a trade that gets done, and the saga doesn’t get any uglier than it has already become.
