Damian Lillard was reportedly interested in linking up with the Golden State Warriors before the team traded for Chris Paul from the Washington Wizards.
Speaking on the Bay Area radio show Willard and Dibs, NBA insider Ramona Shelburne indicated that, had the Warriors not traded for Paul, it could possibly have landed Lillard, claiming she “knows he was interested.”
“They could have waited for Dame,” said Shelburne. “Dame is from the Bay Area. I know he was interested. If he got to the point where he was going to ask for a trade and a list was given [to the organization], the Warriors would have been on that list.”

While the idea of Lillard playing alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green looks brilliant on paper, the Portland Trail Blazers had made his intentions clear that he wouldn’t want to play for a team with multiple superstars.
The 32-year-old is now firmly on his Miami-or-bust stance after he requested a trade out of Portland and wants to play for the Heat specifically. As for the idea of Lillard as a Warrior, that’s pretty much wishful thinking.
The Boston Celtics Have Joined The Fray To Land Damian Lillard
After reports of Jayson Tatum trying to recruit Damian Lillard to play for the Boston Celtics, the latest development is the franchise joining in to see if they can add Lillard to their side.
“I know they have expressed some interest already in this, but this is not a team that is necessarily on the list,” Shelburne said. “This is not a city that he would necessarily welcome going to right now, at least from what I understand, but as far as a team that can win and that actually has the assets to do it, they make a lot of sense.”
Lillard averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists this past season to prove to the world he’s still an incredible guard who can consistently put up big numbers.
In his 11 years with the Blazers, he has done everything possible to put them into contention, but the team’s failure to add more options around him to make them a contender has seen him make the move to split. It does make sense if he has another team on his list of landing spots, and by the looks of it, Boston might not be a bad idea.
