D’Angelo Russell was the big acquisition for the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline, definitely the most prominent piece they got back in the various trades they made.
But this isn’t Russell’s first rodeo in Hollywood, the Lakers are the team that drafted D’Angelo when he came into the NBA. D’Angelo Russell was the 2nd overall pick in the NBA draft, and he had the opportunity to play alongside one of the most legendary Lakers ever, Kobe Bryant.
During his time in the league, Russell has played with many star teammates. He had Kobe Bryant to start his career, he spent part of a season in Golden State next to Stephen Curry, and then he was teammates with Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns in Minnesota.
But considering that Kobe was on his last legs and Curry was injured a lot, the biggest stars he’s played with are his new teammates, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis. The trio is already designing plays for when they are on the floor together, and it promises to be exciting for the Lakers. But it must also be really exciting for Russell if one of his 2016 interviews is anything to go by.
LeBron James And Anthony Davis Were A Part Of D’Angelo Russell’s Ideal Team Along With Michael Jordan And Bill Russell
When he was a rising star and a prospect, D’Angelo Russell was asked about his ‘dream’ starting 5. The question involved Russell himself being part of this 5-man team, and his answer is nothing short of incredible to think about now.
4 years ago, D'Angelo Russell put LeBron and Anthony Davis in his "dream" starting 5.

“I’d say Bill Russell, Anthony Davis, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and me.”
Bill Russell is unfortunately no longer among us and Michael Jordan is long retired as well, but as far as the other two picks go, it seems a significant part of D’Angelo Russell’s ideal starting five has become a reality. He has a chance to play with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and he must be thinking that they have a serious chance at success together.
It’s not often that something like this happens, but it goes to show how truly unpredictable the NBA is. They may not be the same players they were when Russell gave this interview, but now that he has his guys next to him, Lakers fans will be expecting to see the All-Star version of D’Angelo balling out for them.
