  • DeMar DeRozan and Kawhi Leonard headlined the list of the overrated players in the NBA
  • DeRozan’s three-point shooting and Leonard’s health were major factors behind the decision
  • Dillon Brooks was one of the other big names on the list

DeMar DeRozan and Kawhi Leonard made Bleacher Report’s list of the most overrated players in the NBA.

In his column for Bleacher Report, Grant Hughes also listed Domantas Sabonis, Dillon Brooks, and Jonas Valanciunas as the other players who were valued too highly in the modern-day league.

“He was an easy inclusion on our list because DeRozan’s individual bucket-getting prowess has led to precious little team success and comes with a level of defensive ineptitude that basically cancels out (at best) the value he provides as a scorer,” Hughes wrote of the Chicago Bulls superstar.

As for Leonard, he opined that the LA Clippers’ star’s health was a major issue and while he is a force when he takes the court, the fact that he misses a huge chunk of games overshadows his skills as a player.

Up next, “Valanciunas is tough and he competes, but his best skills don’t drive winning. And his shortcomings can low-key undercut his team’s chances at success,” Hughes wrote in his column.

For Brooks and Sabonis, the common factor was their falling short in the postseason which is detrimental to their respective team’s chances.

As far as this past season, goes, we made a list of the ten overrated players in the 2022-23 run, and you can have a look at the names here.

Will DeMar DeRozan And Kawhi Leonard Find Success Next Season?

Considering that DeMar DeRozan and Kawhi Leonard are the bigger names in BR’s feature, all eyes will be on the two players next season.

For the Bulls star, it will be about making a deeper playoff run alongside Zach LaVine (if he doesn’t get traded) and Nikola Vucevic. While, Kawhi will have to make a difference with Paul George and Russell Westbrook, and possibly James Harden if the Clippers indeed add him to their ranks.

It will also be interesting to see how Brooks fares with his new team, especially after his murky exit with the Memphis Grizzlies.
