  • The Former MVP is touted to have a comeback season with the Memphis Grizzlies
  • Rose will play a key role in Ja Morant’s absence
  • Rose’s work ethic extended his career after various injuries in the past

The upcoming NBA 2023-24 season could see the stellar comeback of Derrick Rose.

Former NBA star Jamal Crawford believes the newly-minted Memphis Grizzlies guard will be the comeback player next season with his new team. Speaking to NBA.com, he said:

“Derrick Rose jumps out to me as a comeback player. He wasn’t hurt last season, but he didn’t get a lot of playing time. I believe he’ll have an amazing opportunity in Memphis, especially at the beginning of the season, with Ja Morant suspended.”

After playing his last three seasons with the New York Knicks, Rose was rumored to make a return to his former team, the Chicago Bulls this summer, but he’s back at a place where he played basketball during college.

The Chicago native will now play for the Grizzlies and will be their go-to man in the absence of Ja Morant, who will miss the first 25 games of the upcoming season.

Rose found himself out of the rotation with the Knicks last season and saw very little playing time, averaging his career-lowest numbers of 5.6 points and 1.7 assists from 27 games.

Whether Crawford’s prediction about Rose’s famed comeback comes true remains to be seen.

Derrick Rose Keeps It Real About His Work Ethic

At 34, Derrick Rose has his fair share of injuries, but his tremendous work ethic has kept him primed for more basketball. Speaking on a recent podcast, the former Bulls star explained his gritty work ethic.

“We have a different relationship with the ball than everybody else in the world. Everywhere you go, you take it with you, getting praise for it… The ball has to be your first girlfriend,” said Rose speaking on his amazing work ethic. “That’s the difference between the 400 players in the league and those that aren’t in the league.”

Rose nails it on the head when he throws in the number. The NBA is grueling and intense, and only those with the dedication to stick by with a consistent work ethic will stay in the league. It’s impressive to see Rose hold on to his and continue to make a case for himself.
