Dirk Nowitzki is forever loyal to the Dallas Mavericks and his ideal scenario involves two of the game's top stars joining forces to form a new dynasty in Texas. During an interview with Eurohoops, the Mavericks legend gave his support for a new Mavericks tandem featuring Luka and superstar big man, Nikola Jokic.

"I hope that would be in Dallas. I'm not sure if that will ever happen, but obviously, both are two of the best players in the world. If now the best players in the world," said Dirk. "They both have a great relationship with each other, they respect each other and like each other genuinely. They spend time with each other. I'm not sure, but of course, we want Luka in Dallas as long as we can. Hopefully, he finishes his career there, but I love Jokic's game, how he plays the game with passion, and the skill level as a big is unbelievable. They're both incredible players."

Dirk Nowitzki doesn't have an official role with the Mavericks but he does serve as a special advisor to the team. So if he's speaking like this about two of the game's top athletes, you can bet that it's something the entire front office has talked about.

On the court and off the court, Doncic and Jokic share many similarities. They are both European, they are both leaders of their team, and they are both two of the best players on the planet. If the time ever comes when they do join forces, whether on the Mavericks, Nuggets, or another team, it will be a scary day for the rest of the league.

Drafted 3rd overall in 2018, Luka's ascension to stardom was quick and it didn't take him long to become the face of the Mavericks. The Slovenian guard is averaging 28.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game for his career on 47.0% shooting from the field. Over six years in the league, he's established himself as one of the game's top scorers and has led his team to multiple late-stage playoff runs.

In Denver, Nikola Jokic has been arguably even more impressive. As a 2x MVP, NBA champion, and 6x All-Star, Jokic's legacy as an all-time great is already secured but at just 29 years old, he is still early in his prime and has a chance to accomplish even more.

Neither Jokic nor Doncic is slated to leave their clubs anytime soon, but it's no secret that they have a bond and Luka was the only non-family member invited to Nikola's birthday party last February. They've spoken highly of each other in the past about each other's skills and their identical life values.

Sadly, with both players under contract for years, the earliest that they could link up without a trade is 2026 if Doncic opts out of his $48 million player option. Of course, if things get too messy in Denver, Jokic could try and force his way out to team up with Doncic before his decline.

For now, it's still a longshot scenario but it seems like the Mavericks might be trying to make it a reality. After a run to the NBA Finals last year, they know that Luka has what it takes to go all the way. But if they could pair him with a big man like the Joker, their potential for success is limitless.
