Cleveland Cavaliers guard revealed the two players he’s had a tough time defending — Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving. And he had his reasons.

Speaking on the Run Your Race podcast, he explained why Curry was one of the challenging players. “It’s between Ky and Steph, bro. Steph, because that mot*******er don’t stop running around, bro. Like bro, he doesn’t stop. And the thing about Steph is the minute you f*** up it’s like ‘All right, bet, I got you.'”

Up next, he explained why Irving was the tough opponent. “And then Kyrie bro, mot*******er got counter upon counter upon counter. I’ve contested some of Kyrie’s jump shots, and we’ve locked hands, and that sh*t’s hit nothing but net. He is one of the most skilled basketball players to ever play this game. I swear.”

To dissect Mitchell’s arguments better, Curry has the kind of motor that he’s never in one place on the court, and his accurate shooting helps make the maximum of the defenders’ mistakes. This, coupled with his game awareness and IQ makes him one f the most difficult players to contain.

With Irving, it’s about his wizardry with the ball. His handling skills and precision shooting from any end of the floor make him another threat.

Donovan Mitchell Names His Best Defenders In The NBA

Earlier, Mitchell revealed his best defenders in the NBA on the same podcast. “No order. Jrue (Holiday), Lu Dort, OG Anunoby, I’mma put Bam (Adebayo) on there. Dray (Green) and (Marcus) Smart have to be tied for fifth.”

Mitchell was one of the more impressive stars this season, averaging 23.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 7.2 assists to help the Cavaliers make the playoffs. However, they were undone by the New York Knicks in the first round.

That said, the guard is still a force to reckon with, and with Cleveland boasting their young unit, the future looks promising for Mitchell and his outfit. It remains to be seen if they can book another playoff berth next season.
