When it comes to basketball, Lakers superstar LeBron James wears many different hats. He’s a scorer, leader, playmaker, decision-maker, and veteran tone-setter for his team and holds power within the organization that is almost unprecedented.

On a larger scale, however, LeBron is also the face of the NBA itself. While guys like Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry have become almost just as popular, James’ resume, longevity, and natural charisma have made him the league’s most marketable and recognizable figure.

According to Warriors champion Draymond Green, James is the greatest face of the NBA we’ve ever seen, and a lot of it has to do with his amazing longevity.

“When you look at those three things, it’s a testament to how he lives his life,” Warriors star Draymond Green told USA TODAY Sports. “I recently said he’s the greatest face the NBA has ever had. Think about the day and age we live in – cameras, social media – he’s never had a scandal. Never been arrested. Never photo’d drunk. Those things go hand in hand with durability, longevity, consistency… It’s a testament to the discipline he has in his life, and basketball is a result of that. It speaks to the person that he is, and basketball has benefitted from that.”

It is rather unique for LeBron to be scandal-free after so much time in the spotlight. Besides his big decision in 2010, James has managed to avoid any serious controversies, and that’s hard to do in today’s age.

LeBron’s Longevity Is His Most Impressive Achievement

Perhaps the most impressive part of LeBron’s career is just how long he’s managed to stay at the top. While he may not be considered the best player in the world anymore, he’s still right up there near the top, and it’s been that way for nearly two decades now.

“I still say, and I stand by this, with 20 years in to still be competing at the same level, obviously it’s not the exact same when he was 22 or 26 or 30 or whatever,” said Draymond on James. “But to be competing at such a high level in year 20, that has to count for something. Has to count for something…”

It’s only a matter of time before a star overtakes LeBron as the new face of the NBA. Some would say that’s already happened.

Regardless, LeBron’s run has been undeniably impressive, and he deserves major credit for maintaining a near-perfect image after all these years.
