Dwight Howard isn’t planning to call time on his illustrious career. Better yet, he wants to return to the NBA and be part of the Sacramento Kings.
“I’m not retired from the NBA just yet,” Howard told Mark Haynes of The Observer. “I would love to help the Sacramento Kings contend for a title. Even though I believe their team is pretty much set.”
The former Los Angeles Lakers star played the past season with the Taoyuan Leopards of the T1 League and averaged a healthy 23.2 points, 16.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. In his last outing for the Lakers, he propped up 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds from 60 games
In the same interview, Howard also lavished praise on Kings coach Mike Brown. “I like Mike Brown. I think he’s an amazing coach, and what he accomplished this year was very impressive.”
Howard to the Kings makes sense considering the young unit could do with the services of a vet in the locker room. Given his T1 run, the 37-year-old still has enough to offer, and will surely be a boost.
Dwight Howard Wants To Finish Off His Career With An NBA Championship
Earlier, Howard made it clear that he intends to come back to the NBA and finish off his career with a title.
In an interview with NBA insider Shams Charania, the center said, “I would love to come back to play in the NBA. I do enjoy playing international basketball. Just the experience is one of a kind. It’s a different type of grind of being in the NBA, and I had a chance to experience it. But I would love to finish off my career with an NBA team, hopefully, win an NBA championship.”
This goes on to show that Howard still believes he will make an impact in the NBA. But it remains to be seen if any team will find a spot for him.
