During the regular season, Tyler Herro was a key part of the Miami Heat. He was a huge part of the team’s offense as the starting shooting guard. He has thrived in a starting role, averaging 20.1 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 4.2 APG while shooting 37.8% from 3PT range.

Despite his impact during the regular season, Tyler Herro has not played for the majority of this year’s playoffs due to his breaking two fingers on his shooting hand. However, there was some speculation that he could suit up in the NBA Finals. That obviously hasn’t happened, and Erik Spoelstra recently explained why Tyler Herro has not yet returned to the team.

“He just started this process when we were in Denver. It’s one thing to be able to go through all of this. It’s another to be cleared to play an NBA Finals game.”

There’s no doubt that having Tyler Herro back would be a boon for the Miami Heat, but ultimately, his being fully healthy for the team is more important than rushing him out there before he is fully cleared to return from his injury.

Tyler Herro Does Not Want To Mess Up The Miami Heat’s Rhythm If He Comes Back

The Miami Heat have been playing well without Tyler Herro, and it is clear that he recognizes that fact. In fact, it was previously reported that he doesn’t want to mess up his rhythm if he returns.

“I spoke with Tyler Herro ahead his Game 2 pregame routine and he told me he experiences both soreness and swelling in the right hand after shooting and he can feel the soreness when he’s making a “follow through” shooting motion. He also shared his consideration of not wanting to come back and mess up the rhythm of the team. While there was hope he’d return for Game 2 as he’s participating in all aspects of team practice, he’s making sure the time is right for his return to the court.”

Tyler Herro is taking a team-first approach here, and it is good to see that he is considering all factors before making his return. However, he is definitely talented enough to impact the team positively in an immediate fashion, and we’ll see if he ends up coming back in the future.
