The Miami Heat stunned the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 of their first-round series, but their victory seems to have come at a very high cost.
With the Heat leading 64-52 in the second quarter, Tyler Herro dove in an attempt to get to a loose ball but, in the process, badly hurt his right hand. He seemed to be in a great deal of pain, and it has now been revealed that he has two broken fingers.
“Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro broke the middle and ring finger on his shooting hand and is expected to be out approximately 4-6 weeks.”

Herro briefly stayed in the game after the incident and even attempted a shot, but he couldn’t bear the pain any longer and had to exit. He had recorded 12 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block in just under 20 minutes, and his departure could have been the turning point of the game. Jimmy Butler wasn’t going to let that happen, however, as he finished with 35 points, 11 assists, and 5 rebounds to lead the Heat to a 130-117 win.
Even if Herro was available, winning this series even after winning Game 1 was going to be very difficult, so the fact that he won’t play any part the rest of the way makes their job that much harder. The Heat weren’t the only ones to be hit by the injury bug, however, as Giannis Antetokounmpo also had to leave the game in the second quarter.
Reggie Miller Believes Tyler Herro Is A Bigger Loss Than Giannis Antetokounmpo In The Series
While the absence of a superstar like Giannis is a massive blow, Reggie Miller thinks Herro is a bigger loss than the Greek in this series. For a Heat team that struggled offensively for much of the season (25th in the league in offensive rating at 112.3, as per the NBA), the loss of a scorer like Herro is a big one. He had averaged 20.1 PPG in the regular season and the absence of someone like him who can create his own shot is far from ideal.
As for Giannis, the Bucks have managed to win games without him in the postseason in the past, when they beat the Atlanta Hawks in Games 5 and 6 in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021. He is also expected to not miss too much time and could potentially be back for Game 2.
