Nikola Jokic has led the Denver Nuggets to a 3-1 lead over the Miami Heat in the 2023 NBA Finals. The two-time NBA MVP could become a champion as soon as Monday, June 12.

There’s no denying the fact that Jokic is redefining the position of a modern-day center. Speaking of his intelligence, former NBA player Jamal Crawford recently claimed that Jokic is locked in a battle of wits against Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra rather than the team. Ahead of the Game 5 matchup, Spoelstra labeled Crawford’s comments as ‘absurd.’

“Look at me, I look ridiculous,” Spoelstra said. “I’m not out there playing. He’s not playing against me. That’s absurd. No.”

Spoelstra may have jokingly answered the question, but he was seriously shocked after hearing Crawford’s comments about Jokic playing against him.

Anyway, Coach Spo has more important things to deal with right now. The Heat have their backs against the wall ahead of the crucial Game 5 of the NBA Finals. If they lose, it’s over.

So far, teams leading 3-1 in the NBA Finals have a 35-1 record. Can Spoelstra and the Heat make it 35-2? We will find out pretty soon.

Nikola Jokic Is Ready For Game 5 Battle vs. The Miami Heat

Nikola Jokic has been having a historic run this postseason. The Joker is averaging 30.1 PPG, 13.3 RPG, and 9.8 APG in the playoffs.

There’s a very real chance that the Nuggets will become champions of the league on Monday. Despite knowing that, Jokic doesn’t want to lose focus ahead of Game 5.

“We’re gonna be locked in and ready,” said Jokic. “It’s just gonna be a game that we need to win.”

It’s a great mentality from the leader of the Denver Nuggets. The Miami Heat is not a team that can be underestimated. They have clawed their way to the NBA Finals after finishing the regular season as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
