The Golden State Warriors were eliminated in the second round by the Los Angeles Lakers, and it is clear that this might cause some changes in the franchise. It seems as though some changes have already started.

It was recently reported that Bob Myers would be stepping down as the GM of the Warriors, and it is unclear what will come next for him. Perhaps a career in media could be a good path for Myers, and Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports revealed that ESPN has already expressed interest in hiring him.

“ESPN has expressed an interest in hiring Bob Myers, the Golden State Warriors executive who stepped down as president and general manager on Tuesday.”

“The talks are very early on, sources told Front Office Sports.”

There’s no doubt that Bob Myers’ experience as a dynasty-building GM could make him a great media personality and provide a different insight into basketball than what we usually get on ESPN. This is definitely an interesting situation to monitor, and we’ll see what ends up happening in the future.

Bob Myers Revealed That He Can’t Be Warriors GM Because He Can’t Give It “Complete Engagement”

There is no doubt that being a GM requires a lot of focus and the ability to consistently make tough decisions. Thus, it is clear that this position requires a lot of commitment, and Bob Myers revealed that the reason he is stepping down is that he can’t give the job “complete engagement”.

“I have too many different emotions that I’m still processing. But the bottom line is that this job the one I’m in, requires complete engagement and complete effort. If you can’t do it, then you shouldn’t do it and so that’s the answer. I can’t do that to our players, I can’t do that to Joe. I really can’t do it to myself and that’s a question I’ve been wrestling with… I’ve only known how to do things one way my whole life and it doesn’t feel right to do something when I can’t give it my everything.”

This is definitely a valid reason for Bob Myers to depart. Even though the Warriors did offer him a lucrative contract, it is clear that life isn’t always about money. Hopefully, Bob Myers finds success in whatever endeavor he pursues next, whether it is in the NBA or otherwise.
