The Los Angeles Clippers have been playing with some of the best jerseys in recent seasons. This season, it seems the Clippers will end a tradition of having some amazing City edition threads, with a leaked image for the 2023/24 jersey making the rounds on social media.

We have seen multiple jersey design leaks over recent seasons. The Jazz rebrand to very minimalist jerseys and a logo refresh was leaked similarly last season before the franchise confirmed it later. The Warriors and Wizards city edition designs were also leaked before their eventual confirmation.

We have seen jersey designs for the Lakers, Mavericks, and Bulls already leak this season. Those leaks generated negative reactions, but it seems the Clippers jerseys have brought out even more fan ire.

Fans Cannot Get On Board With This Design

One fan thinks that this is the biggest downgrade in jerseys he’s ever seen.

Some fans pointed out the similarity between the design of these city edition jerseys to that of the Washington Wizards in the ’90s.

Fans were attacking Nike for their increasingly unimaginative jerseys in recent seasons.

One fan joked about how wrong this design is.

Another fan used a John Wall quote to make some negative feelings clear.

Some fans kept it simple by just deriding the new design.

Fans were literally begging Adidas to return so that they could innovate and buck the new trend of disappointing jerseys.

Given how beloved Clippers’ city edition jerseys from recent seasons have been, it’s not surprising to see fans turn on such a basic design.

Considering this is a leak and not an official announcement, we can hold out hope these are fake or just a sample that never went into mass production. Most of these leaks over recent seasons have been incredibly accurate, so it seems unlikely that we will get a fresh design by the time the season starts.

The Clippers Still Trying To Land James Harden

The most important element of selling the jerseys that all these teams wear are the players whose name it’s being sold with. The Clippers already have two draws in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George but are looking to add a third in former MVP James Harden

The Clippers have gotten increasingly more aggressive in their pursuit of Harden after initially having minimal interest in overpaying to get the deal done. NBA insider Keith Pompey revealed that the Clippers are looking to get the deal done as soon as possible, offering two first-round picks with one being a swap, along with expiring contracts.

“The Clippers want to get a deal done soon. They’re offering a first-round pick, a draft-pick swap, and expiring contracts for the 2018 MVP and three-time scoring champion. And a source said Los Angeles doesn’t want to raise their offer. As the only team bidding for him, the source said the Clippers don’t feel a need to do so. The source said Morey is the one holding up the deal.”

The Clippers’ expiring contracts on paper aren’t going to help the 76ers compete for a title. Marcus Morris Sr and Robert Covington would likely be the centerpiece of the package, with Nicolas Batum likely not being traded due to his expected retirement this season.

Terance Mann is reportedly untouchable in trade talks, which will make this a challenging pursuit for the Clippers. Normal Powell’s long-term deal will not interest Philadelphia, who are projecting to have nearly $80 million in cap space next summer.
