One of the biggest concerns for the Lakers this summer was finding a way to retain Austin Reaves, who became a restricted free agent at the end of last season. Reaves was huge for the Lakers, especially during the playoffs when his play helped spark a run to the Western Conference Finals.

Recently, Reaves went viral for some of the things he said on ‘All the Smoke’ podcast where he walked about the offseason, life, and his experience as a Laker. he also gave his top five shooting guards of All-Time, which was promptly roasted by Gilbert Arenas.

“LeBron James, can y’all drug test Austin Reaves PLS…this man didn’t say (IVERSON) but roy,” Arenas posted on Instagram. “The only person we call roy is (Roy fucking gatorade drinking on the bench ass HIBBERT) don’t confuse him with ️B-ROY Mr natural aka Mr smooth Mr7 #MrROY Austin next outburst like that and u will be traded to the sister team (clippers).”

All in all, it’s a pretty solid list from Reaves, and he made sure to include Kobe on his list, so Lakers fans can all rest easy.

Regarding the absence of Allen Iverson, it’s very possible that Reaves sees him more as a  point guard than a shooting guard but you can’t blame him for putting Brandon Roy on the list, who was on track to be one of the most elite scorers ever before injuries.

Austin Reaves Is The Future Of The Lakers

No matter how you feel about Austin’s shooting guard rankings, his importance to the Lakers is unquestionable. As a young shooter and ball handler, he showed flashes of stardom this spring, and the Lakers are convinced he will be a pillar of their success in the future.

“I’m putting it on record right now: Austin Reaves will be an All-Star at some point soon,” said Darvin Ham.

Locked up for years to come, Lakers fans can rest easy knowing Reaves is here to stay. Who knows, maybe one day he’ll set a legacy for himself as one of the best guards in modern Lakers history.
