“His 3-Point Shot Will Improve And He Will Be Unstoppable.”: Former NBA Player Believes Giannis Antetokounmpo Will Be The League’s Best Player In 5 Years

Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Milwaukee Bucks to a championship during the 2020-21 season. It is clear that he is one of the best players in the league right now, and some believe that he is the best currently.

There are other superstars in the league who have an argument for being the best player in the league, such as Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. With that being said, the landscape of the NBA could look very different in a few years. Some of the current top-tier players will be older, and potentially worse due to aging.

A group of former NBA players was recently asked a variety of questions by Josh Robbins and Sam Amick of The Athletic, including who the best player in the league would be in 5 years. Some of the players suggested that player would be Giannis Antetokounmpo, with one even claiming that Antetokounmpo would be unstoppable with an improved 3PT shot.

• “Giannis will still be the best player, because he’ll have improved while still being in his prime.” — someone who played in the mid-1980s

• “His 3-point shot will improve, and he will be unstoppable.” — a player from the 1990s

• “No one can stop him now, and he can only get better. He’ll win more championships.” — a player from the mid-1970s

• “He is a fierce competitor and recognizes his weakness and is working on perfecting them.” — Richie Guerin, a Hall of Fame shooting guard who played from 1956-70, with the New York Knicks and St. Louis/Atlanta Hawks

There is no question that Giannis Antetokounmpo certainly has the talent to become the face of the league, and he is well-known for putting in a lot of work during the offseason. It is certainly difficult to envision a defense stopping him if he gets a workable 3PT shot.

There’s certainly a long way to for Giannis Antetokounmpo’s jumper though, as he only shoots 28% from beyond the arc for the season. However, we’ve seen teams be forced to build a “wall” just to stop him, and he is still dominant without a working jump shot. Giannis Antetokounmpo is already a fantastic player, but it is quite possible that his game will blossom further in the future.
