Ben Simmons is yet to show his best version for the Brooklyn Nets this season. After a shy start to the 2022-23 NBA season, the Brooklynites have turned things around, becoming a much better team and ranking 2nd in the Eastern Conference standings, about to surpass the Boston Celtics.

After their situations involving Steve Nash and Kyrie Irving ended, the team focused entirely on basketball, and the results have been simply great for them. They have the best record in the league since new head coach Jacque Vaughn took over and made them the big team they are right now.

While Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are doing their team on the court, Ben Simmons is still trying to find his pace this season. The Australian point guard isn’t playing as he used to in his best days, but for his head coach, that’s not a problem.

Jacque Vaughn Shuts Down Ben Simmons’ Doubters

In fact, when asked about Simmons’ lack of shooting this season, Vaughn didn’t pay much attention to that, saying that he hasn’t even discussed that with Simmons and he doesn’t even see that as an issue for the talented playmaker.

“Really haven’t spoken to him about it,” Vaughn said, via Yahoo Sports. “I don’t see that it’s an issue really to kind of address. The free throws haven’t presented themselves. I think he’s still driven the ball to the rim and he’s had some rim attacks. Overall, we just want him to play.”

Many people have claimed that Simmons needed to develop a jump shot if he wanted to be more useful in the league or have a bigger chance to win a championship, but that’s what happened in Philadelphia. Now, on the Nets, he’s playing with more freedom and has two incredible teammates that can take over games every single time.

Simmons is in a privileged position right now, and he’s trying to make the most out of it. Of course, he’s doing what he does best, and the Nets are simply happy with that. We’ll see when the playoffs arrive if he can show that the mistakes from the past are gone, and he’s ready to win it all in Brooklyn.
