As NBA superstar Kevin Durant prepares for another playoff run, the entire league will have their eyes on the Suns and how they look heading into the postseason.

Despite only having a handful of games under his belt with his new team, NBA analyst (and former point guard) Jalen Rose still has them as the favorites to win it all, and he revealed why in a recent segment on NBA Countdown.

“We haven’t seen the Nuggets do it just yet. Memphis, they are in the conversation, but I don’t believe they are ready to win the conference just yet. The players that we’ve seen do it — LeBron James, Anthony Davis — I don’t think they’re gonna do it this year. Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers, Paul George is injured. I don’t think they are gonna do it this year. And without Wiggins, I don’t think the Splash Brothers are gonna do it this year. The team that most recently did it has still got their top players in tow: Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton. .. and they just added the easy money sniper [Kevin Durant].”

Despite an abundance of talent and star power, the West isn’t nearly as loaded as it seems. All of the teams, especially those at the top, have some major flaws, and no team has really separated itself from the pack.

So, considering the state of the competition, there is a clear path for the Suns to make a run this season and finally deliver a title to the city.

Can Durant Return To Form This Season?

Durant is coming off two injuries already this season, and there are doubts that he’s gotten enough playtime with his new teammates.

But as Devin Booker stated in a recent chat with the media, he doesn’t have any doubts that KD’s return will be seamless.

“We just hoop,” Booker said. “We make reads We make plays, and we start with a structure and our sets. He fits right into that and he knows what we’re doing. We kick it at the crib, but we’d done that before. Kev was somebody that I’d pull up on even when we weren’t teammates.”

To be traded mid-season and lead the team to a championship would be new waters for a player of Durant’s caliber, but he’s got a real opportunity to pull if off this year.

At the very least, with hos wide open the West is this season, the Suns cannot be counted out against any team as long as their core is healthy and ready to play.
