FOX Sports analyst Skip Bayless has never been afraid to give hot takes. It’s part of what has made him so successful in the media sphere.

But, on Tuesday, Bayless got into some trouble for calling out Bronny James, who is still a Junior in High School.

Many thought that was the next step in the controversial analyst’s career, but now the answer may be closer than we think. On Monday afternoon, Bronny James faced the U18 France national team, putting a rival on a poster, sending his father, other NBA stars, and fans into a frenzy.

Truth to his style, Bayless was cautious about getting too excited for Bronny. In fact, he took to Twitter to tell the 17-year-old that the dunk was nice, but his father would have done it differently.

“Hey, Bronny … impressive,” Skip tweeted. “But your dad would’ve dunked it left-handed. You sure got away with it, though.”

It was a typical comment from Bayless, but it caught a lot of heat online. Unlike many of his other criticisms, the statement was aimed at a guy who isn’t even considered an adult yet.

That simple fact, along with the fact that Bronny hasn’t played a game in the NBA yet, was enough to anger many in the NBA community.

Former NBA guard Jalen Rose became the latest to call him out in a segment on ESPN:

“Nobody should be overcritical of high school players, in particular those of professional athletes” he said. “Especially if you were a junior in high school and only averaged 1.4 points.”

Those were some major shots fired by Jalen, but it’s rooted in truth. Skip only averaged 1.4 points per game as a High School Junior, and it’s a fact that gets brought up often by his biggest rivals.

It’s not the first time Rose has mentioned it on air, and it definitely won’t be the last. That’s the price you pay when you make a career out of slamming the NBA’s royal family.
