James Harden isn’t the same player that he was during his time with the Houston Rockets, but he is still a premier guard in this game. During the 2021-22 season, James Harden averaged 22.0 PPG, 7.7 RPG, and 10.3 APG.

This offseason, James Harden notably entered free agency. However, his return to the Philadelphia 76ers was never in doubt. Adrian Wojnarowski has recently revealed that James Harden has signed a two-year, $68.6 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. The deal will have a player option for the 2023-24 season.

Free agent James Harden has agreed on a two-year, $68.6M deal, including a player option, to return to the 76ers, sources tell ESPN.

Harden will make $33M for the 2022-2023 season, and has the player option for $35.6M in 2023-2024, sources tell ESPN. He can move right back into free agency next summer and negotiate another new deal.

There is no doubt that James Harden returning is a welcome sight for the Philadelphia 76ers. They should be one of the contenders in the Eastern Conference next year, and a core of James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid is very solid.

Hopefully, this decision pays off for James Harden next year. The only thing missing from his lengthy basketball resume is an NBA championship, and perhaps we’ll see him win at the highest level next season.
