Jaylen Brown Is Unsure About His Future With The Boston Celtics

Some of the greatest players of all time haven’t finished with their organization. Michael Jordan retired a Wizard," Jaylen Brown remarked.

Jaylen Brown was candid and didn’t mince his words when asked about his future with the Boston Celtics.

Speaking to The Ringer’s Logan Murdock, the guard felt unsure about his long-term run with the franchise. “I don’t know. As long as I’m needed. It’s not up to me,” he explained. We’ll see how they feel about me over time and I feel about them over time.”

“Hopefully, whatever it is, it makes sense. But I will stay where I’m wanted. I will stay where I’m needed and treated correctly. I just enjoy the time that you have now. If it’s your whole career, it’s your whole career. If it’s not, it’s not. Some of the greatest players of all time haven’t finished with their organization. Michael Jordan retired a Wizard.”

It’s surprising that Brown said what he did, but in a way, it does make sense, as he intends to find success on his own as an individual. For now, though, the objective for the Celtics star will be to win a championship, especially after they came within striking distance to win it last season, but was outdone by the Golden State Warriors.

When talking about his future, should Brown indeed decide to explore the waters, there’s no dearth of suitors. He has been a force for Boston this season, averaging 26.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.

The Celtics are one of the trams primed to make the postseason and make a deeper run, and the 26-year-old will be eager to get his hands on the silverware.

Jaylen Brown Gets Real About The No. 1 In The Boston Celtics Outfit

Regarded as the best duo this NBA season, Brown and Jayson Tatum have also been subject to comparisons of who leads the unit, and the former had a rather fitting reply.

When asked about it earlier this year, “I just play the game. I mean, I’ll let you guys determine what is the options,” Brown remarked.

“We’re not number one and number two, I just come out and play the game. The moment you start thinking that is the moment that I think that you’ll start doubting yourself or – there’s no need to come out and play the game any other way than how I normally play. And that’s how I see it.”

On the season front, Boston is placed second in the West with a 49-23 record. They have been one of the teams to beat this season, courtesy of Brown and Tatum, who, with the right pieces around them, have looked more than just formidable.

At this point, it’s too early to debate about Brown and his future with the Celtics, but it’s highly unlikely that the front office would let one of their best assets go.
