Jimmy Butler looks like a man in control and his comments after the Miami Heat drew first blood against the Boston Celtics suggested the same.

Speaking in the aftermath of the Heat’s 123-116 win, “Damn right I did. Damn right, we did,” Butler said. “And the best part about it is we still don’t care what none of y’all think. We don’t care if you pick us to win. We never have. We never will.”

He further added: “We pump constant confidence into everybody and we go out there and we hoop. We play basketball the right way, knowing that we always got a chance.”

Butler was instrumental in Heat’s Game 1 win at the TD Garden, dropping 35 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, and 6 steals to lead his team to a solid win, and in the process, secure homecourt advantage. Miami has won Game 1 on the road in each of their three playoff series.

Both teams will meet for Game 2 on Friday, May 19, at TD Garden.

Jimmy Butler Believes This Is The Best Chance For The Heat To Win A Championship

Earlier, Butler was a picture of confidence when he said this season was the best bet for the Heat to win their championship.

“This year is our year,” said Butler, according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald. “We’re going to go into this Game 1 and do what we’re supposed to do and be the first one to four. We are very capable of it. We have enough. The guys are playing some incredible basketball. I like our chances, as does everyone in this organization.”

And leading from the front is Butler himself, averaging 31.1 PPG, 6.6 RPG, and 5.4 APG for Miami. He is clearly playing on another level and with the right support at the right time, he just might be onto something when he says this is his team’s chance to seize the title. The question is if they can hold on to the 1-0 advantage they have at the moment.
