Jimmy Butler On James Harden Joining The Heat: “I Like The Group We Have…To Be Honest, I Just Want The Guy To Be Happy.”

2 Min Read

James Harden has reportedly included the Heat on his list of preferred trade destinations, and it’s easy to see why. With Pat Riley, Eric Spoelstra, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo, they’ve got remarkable people from the top down.

On the surface, adding a guy like Harden to the mix would only bolster their chances to win a title — but not everyone is entirely convinced bringing him on board is something the Heat should make happen.

Butler, who led Miami to the Eastern Conference Finals in October, had an interesting response when asked about the possibility of James Harden joining his crew:

“I think that he’s a hell of a player. I like the group we have…To be honest, I just want the guy to be happy. That’s what life is about, that’s what the game is about.”

For context, this conversation followed a question by Rachel Nichols about a particular post claiming Harden added the Heat to his trade list. On television, Jimmy played it off like it was nonsense, but perhaps it was him trying to keep his real intentions on the low.

Whether Miami gets “the Beard” or not, though, the Heat will be a team to fear in the East this season. They’ve got chemistry and a certain drive that will make them especially dangerous in the playoffs.

Butler has got every reason to take pride in his squad, even as presently constructed.
