The Los Angeles Lakers are putting up a show in the 2023 NBA Playoffs. When nobody believed in them, they made some interesting moves ahead of the trade deadline, putting together a solid team that is one game away from reaching the Western Conference Finals.
Even with all their good moments, the Lakers aren’t championship favorites right now. At least not for JJ Redick, who ranks them as the third biggest title threat in the NBA at this moment.
1. Nuggets
2. 76ers
3. Lakers
4. Celtics
5. Suns
“The Los Angeles Lakers, up 3-1 against the Warriors. A chance to advance to the Western Conference Finals. LeBron, AD, Austin Reaves, all coming up big for them,” Redick said on First Take.

Even though the Lakers are playing great right now, Redick doesn’t think it is enough to rank higher. The Denver Nuggets and the Philadelphia 76ers rank above the Lakers, respectively.
The former player-turned-analyst praised Joel Embiid and James Harden for their impressive level while crediting the role players for helping their two stars.
As for the Nuggets, Redick praised Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray for their dominance while touching on Aaron Gordon’s defense and the impact that Bruce Brown is making off the bench.
At the start of the playoffs, nobody believed that the Nuggets and Sixers would be one win away from the Conference Finals, but this game can surprise you every year. Now, they need to confirm they’re serious about their chances to win it all this year.
Los Angeles Lakers Are Looking Stronger By The Day
As for the Lakers, they are the biggest threat to the Nuggets right now. This team has played incredible basketball in the first two rounds of the playoffs. To make things scarier, the Purple and Gold always find an unexpected hero like Austin Reaves against the Memphis Grizzlies, or, more recently, Lonnie Walker IV against the Golden State Warriors.
The Lakers are on the brink of returning to the Western Conference Finals, and the last time they made it to that stage, they ended up winning the 17th championship in franchise history.
