The ‘Lob City’ Clippers era was an exciting time to be a fan of the franchise. The trio of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan made every game of the Clippers enjoyable.

But the team never got past the second round of the playoffs, let alone reach the NBA finals or win the ring. Doc Rivers recently claimed that version of the Clippers was never bound to win the championship due to chemistry issues. JJ Redick, a former L.A. Clipper, reacted to Rivers’ statement.

“This is what dreams are made of.”

JJ Redick’s tweet shows his disappointment with Rivers’ comments. After all, what player would like to hear their coach make this statement? In a way, Rivers is not wrong, but he could have found a better way to convey that message.

Doc Rivers Believes The Lob City Clippers Had Chemistry Issues

The Los Angeles Clippers, during their ‘Lob City’ era, had a stacked roster. Evidently, fans expect the team to at least reach the NBA Finals.

Unfortunately, the Clippers, led by the trio of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan, never got past the second round. Former head coach of the Clippers, Doc Rivers, explained the reason behind it.

“Not trying to take anything away from that team. That team was never going to win when you look back at it. We just didn’t get along well enough as a group, and you can’t win without cooperation.”

Having a stacked roster is not enough to win an NBA Championship. As Rivers mentioned, the Clippers lacked cooperation. Ultimately, it became the reason behind the Clippers during that era never reaching their true potential.

Fans should expect other members of the Lob City Clippers to react to Rivers’ bold statement, following in the footsteps of JJ Redick. It will certainly ruin Rivers’ relationship with at least a couple of players.
