Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves have enjoyed a mixed season so far. Karl-Anthony Towns’ availability has been a question mark. Rudy Gobert had been less than impressive considering his price tag, and the team just traded D’Angelo Russell. But there has been one shining light amidst all of this turmoil.

Anthony Edwards has recently been named an All-Star replacement with many fans saying earlier that he should have started to begin with. The youngster has been phenomenal this season and is the reason the Timberwolves are just a game behind the 4th seed.

He had another statement performance against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night, putting up 32 points and looking unstoppable. He ruined the home debut of the new Luka Doncic-Kyrie Irving duo and helped his team gain some ground as they chase the Mavericks in the standings. And his performances are not going unnoticed, one of the NBA’s most prominent analysts thinks that Edwards has arrived.

JJ Redick Pointed Out How Anthony Edwards Has Become A Superstar Before The Age Of 22

Anthony Edwards is still only 21, he doesn’t turn 22 until the start of next season. But he is already the leading man on the Timberwolves, the one player that has elevated them to playoff status this season. JJ Redick thinks that Edwards deserves his props for his growth, rightly highlighting that while many expected a jump, it’s now actually happened over the last 2 and a half months or so.

At some point we need to have a long conversation about what Anthony Edwards has done over the last 2 1/2 months. People (including me) were expecting that proverbial “jump” in year 3. He’s done it and he doesn’t turn 22 till August.

“At some point we need to have a long conversation about what Anthony Edwards has done over the last 2 1/2 months. People (including me) were expecting that proverbial ‘jump’ in year 3. He’s done it and he doesn’t turn 22 till August.”

Anthony Edwards has quietly been having a phenomenal last few months. The Timberwolves man in his last 40 games has averaged 26 points per game to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Those are undoubtedly All-Star numbers, and bordering on superstar numbers, so this is a fair comment for Redick to have made.

Edwards now needs to do one thing to announce himself on the big stage though, and that performs at the highest level in a playoff series. If he can help the Timberwolves win a series or even put in a massive fight against a top seed, then there will be no one left to dispute that Edwards truly has arrived.
