- Joakim Noah did not like Cleveland
- In an interview in 2010, he dissed the city openly
- Noah had a brilliant run with the Chicago Bulls
Joakim Noah didn’t fancy Cleveland during his playing days, and he made no secret of that fact.
In one of his previous interviews that resurfaced on social media, the former Chicago Bulls star minced no words when he called it a depressing place to be in.
“It’s pretty depressing out here, man. It’s bad. No going out in Cleveland, man.”
When pressed further, he added another dose:
“I mean, I never heard anybody say, ‘I’m going to Cleveland on vacation.’ What’s so good about Cleveland?”
That said, in his own opinion, Noah has a certain amount of truth to what he was talking about. Cleveland has been regarded as probably one of the least desirable cities to play in, and it’s why the Cavs have always struggled to attract star power.
That though changed when LeBron James put the city on the map, and now Donovan Mitchell is one of the bigger names to suit up for the team.
Joakim Noah Had Some Amusing Words Ahead Of The All-Star Weekend In Cleveland In 2022
In what comes as an amusing remake of his remarks on the city of Cleveland from 2010, the former Defensive Player of the Year, Joakim Noah, almost dissed the city, but this time had a rather subtle way of putting it.
Speaking to the media ahead of the All-Star Weekend, he said, “Maybe Cleveland isn’t…it’s not that bad.”
But it also had to do with him hyping up Bulls stars, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine. Surely, things would have taken a different turn had he still been a player, but now that he’s retired, the lash-out from fans isn’t that scathing.
During his career, Noah was one of the elite defenders and the defensive anchor of several strong Bulls teams. Over the course of his playing days, he made two All-Star teams in his career and finished with career averages of 8.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.
And while one can laugh about Cleveland, the other players have had good things to say about it. So it’s pretty much to each their own.
