Big man Joel Embiid won the MVP award this year with the Philadelphia 76ers, and there is no doubt that he is one of the top superstars in the league. There is no doubt that he has been loyal to the team, though some have speculated that Embiid could end up requesting a trade in the near future if the team can’t put a contender around him.

With that being said, it seems as though the prospect of Joel Embiid requesting a trade is unlikely. In fact, one NBA GM who talked to Sean Deveney of Heavy said that there is “no way” that a trade request comes any time soon.

“No, just no way,” one GM claimed. “He is a different kind of character. He is a lot more like (Damian) Lillard and (Bradley) Beal because he wants to be loyal to the team, he wants to stay there, he has a lot of appreciation for how he has been treated there. Now, his contract is up in (2026) so that’s three years. It’s tough, the position he is in. If we’re still talking about this in three years, you’d expect the story to change by then.”

Things can change quickly in the NBA, and perhaps at some point in his career, Joel Embiid will request a trade. However, as of right now, he clearly wants to stay with the Philadelphia 76ers.

This season, Joel Embiid averaged 33.1 PPG, 10.2 RPG, and 4.2 APG for the Philadelphia 76ers. He is a dominant force in the interior, and many believe he has the talent to lead the 76ers to a title.

Joel Embiid Would Be The Knicks’ Ideal Trade Candidate

If, at some point, Joel Embiid were to request a trade, there would likely be a lot of teams that would come calling. A previous report revealed that he is the ideal trade candidate for the New York Knicks.

“If Harden is out, what does that mean for the Sixers’ contending timeline and Joel Embiid, in particular? Embiid, the league’s reigning MVP, has been mentioned around league circles as New York’s ideal trade candidate if he ever demands out,” wrote Stefan Bondy of New York Daily News. “The 30-year-old Cameroonian was represented by Leon Rose, who was a longtime agent before taking over as president of the Knicks.”

It remains to be seen if we will ever see Joel Embiid on the New York Knicks. He is the exact sort of star that can bring the franchise to prominence, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
