Jordan Poole was expected to be the differentiating factor for the Golden State Warriors vs. the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals.

However, Poole’s performances have been far from impressive in the series so far. In Game 4, JP had just 3 rebounds and two assists while playing just 10 minutes. After the game, Poole gave an honest assessment of his stinker vs. the Lakers. NBC Sports Bay Area’s Kerith Burke gave a glimpse of what Poole thought about his performance.

“‘My shot. I don’t know. If I knew, I’d tell you.’ He didn’t want to talk about himself. He kept saying we have a game in a couple of days. I asked him, I was like, ‘Jordan, we know your work ethic is good. When you feel like you’re in a little bit of a funk, when things don’t seem normal, what are you doing? Are you getting back in the gym?’ He said, ‘Well, my work ethic doesn’t change, my routine doesn’t change. Maybe opportunity changes but you can only control what you can control.'”

The Warriors fanbase will hope that Poole finds his touch, as he is averaging just 8.0 PPG, 2.5 RPG, and 4.3 APG in the series so far.

Steve Kerr Explains Why Jordan Poole Played Just 10 Minutes In Game 4

Jordan Poole is supposed to be one of the players to take off the scoring load from the likes of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

But since he’s going through a rough patch, the Warriors cannot expect a lot from him at the moment. Head coach Steve Kerr recently explained his decision of playing Poole for just 10 minutes in Game 4.

“Well, last night was more about Moses and Gary,” Kerr said. “And both guys were playing so well that we just stayed with them. I thought Jordan did some nice things offensively, he was under control, he penetrated, he got the ball, swung into good spots… I think he was playing fine, it’s just that we had other guys who were playing well, and we had a good game going with those guys, so we just stayed with them.”

It seems like Kerr’s decision to bench Poole had nothing to do with his poor performance. Instead, the Warriors’ head coach wanted to allow other players who were having a good game to get more minutes.

If the Warriors want to make a comeback in the series, they need Poole to play much better and be a leader for the team’s bench.
