Larry Bird is one of the biggest legends the NBA has seen in 75 years of history. The Boston Celtics icon was an incredible player who did much more than people expected from him, taking advantage of his intelligence to compensate for his lack of athleticism.

That’s how Larry became the greatest small forward of all time until LeBron James showed up, but people don’t seem to appreciate what Bird did for the game. Even now, Larry is underappreciated by the new generation, and recently, one analyst claimed that he’s not a top-5 small forward of all time.

Talking on ESPN’s First Take, Domonique Foxworth boldly stated that Larry isn’t a top 5 small forward of all time, even saying that Kevin Durant would destroy him if they went at it nowadays.

“Larry Bird is not a top-5 small forward of all-time. KD would cook Larry Bird, in his prime, all day…. Fried chicken. We’d all eat Bird for dinner.”

Larry is one of the best players in NBA history, often placed on the top 10 list of all time, while Kevin Durant is a great scorer, but his legacy has taken many hits in recent years, which makes it difficult for him to make it through the top 10.

Bird became the face of the league in the 80s along with Magic Johnson, taking the NBA to new heights, turning the league into a big show, saving it, and taking it to the next level.

It’s easy to forget how great Larry Legend was, and it’s crazy to see that people who could watch him make bold statements. Kevin Durant is great, a terrific basketball player, and definitely one of the best in his position, but to bring Bird down to favor Durant isn’t cool.
