LeBron James and Kyrie Irving created a terrific duo in Cleveland, taking the Cavaliers back to contention, and becoming the strongest force in the Eastern Conference. After LeBron returned to Cleveland in 2014, things drastically improved for the team, going to five consecutive NBA Finals, with Kyrie joining Bron in four of them.

Even after winning the hardest championship in NBA history in 2016, the point guard appeared to be done with the Cavs and requested a trade, ultimately landing in Boston, starring in another tumultuous tenure with the Celtics.

Things didn’t end well between Kyrie and LeBron, as the player was blamed for their broken relationship. It was reported that Irving wanted to lead his own team instead of playing under LeBron’s shadow, but everything changed for him after parting with James and the Cavs

Kendrick Perkins Gets Real On Failed Partnership Between LeBron James And Kyrie Irving

Six years after his trade to the Celtics, a former Cavaliers player, who saw firsthand the interactions between Kyrie and the rest of the team, explained that Irving was always distant with his teammates, as LeBron tried to include him in every activity, but the younger player wasn’t too interested in that.

“LeBron did everything in his power to try to embrace Kyrie as a little brother and show him the way,” Perkins said on Brian Windhorst & the Hoop Collective, via Heavy.

Perkins added that Kyrie was more of a loner than somebody who constantly met with teammates. Perk adds that the way Kyrie left really hurt LeBron because he tried a lot to make Kyrie happy during their time together.

“Kyrie was just like rebellious, ‘No, I’m not doing this. No, I’m not coming to team dinners.’ … He was always doing his own thing. It hurt Bron when Kyrie left. It hurt Bron to know some of the things that Kyrie said before he left to go off to Boston, before he demanded that trade. Because Bron did everything in his power,” Perkins concluded.

The good thing about this is that they made amends and have been linked with a reunion since last year. LeBron said he was disappointed the Lakers couldn’t get Kyrie ahead of the trade deadline, but they still have hopes to acquire Irving after this season.

Hopefully, Irving is done with all these antics that made fans hate him in Cleveland, Boston, and more recently, Brooklyn, but this is Kyrie Irving we’re talking about and anything can happen with him.
