Kendrick Perkins Says LeBron James Wants To Shut Up Michael Jordan Fans By Winning More Championships: “He Don’t Want It To Be A Debate Anymore”

LeBron James is having one of the best seasons of his career in 2021-22 despite having turned 37 years old recently. The King is in incredible form and is second in the league in points per game, averaging an incredible 28.7 points per game with the Los Angeles Lakers.

When people talk about James, one of the most frequently discussed topics is whether he is the greatest to ever play in the NBA. With that throne being occupied by Michael Jordan in the eyes of many basketball fans, the debate is one that tends to get quite heated, with very little room for agreement.

Jordan has 6 NBA Championships to LeBron’s 4 so far and that is usually what Jordan fans hang their hats on. However, Kendrick Perkins on ESPN’s First Take backed LeBron as someone hungry for more titles in a debate over whether the Lakers Big 3 needs to improve going forward.

“LeBron James is still chasing to be on top, and he wanna stack up his resume. His resume is already long, but he wants to continue to grow so that he can shut up those Jordan fans out there.”

“When you look at LeBron James, and people thought that he went to Los Angeles to go film movies and do all these things with Space Jam. But, this guy wants to win. He wants to be on top. He don’t even want it to be a debate, he don’t even want it to be an argument. He want it to be known that, ‘hey, I am him.’ At the end of the day, people may say he’s 37 years old but if you watch how he’s playing right now Man, he’s playing like, ‘Nah, I’m not gonna use that as an excuse.'”

James has already won a championship with the Lakers but most of that roster has now been changed. Despite LeBron’s stellar play, his team find themselves as the 7th seed, with a disappointing 18-19 record. While the King is very capable of carrying teams to championships, he will need his co-stars in Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook to step up and ball out for the rest of the season as well.
