Bruce Brown has proven to be an inspired acquisition for the Denver Nuggets and the 26-year-old arguably had his finest hour in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Brown finished the game with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, and a block as the Nuggets won 108-95 to take a 3-1 lead.
It wasn’t just Miami Heat fans watching on in dismay as Brown put on a show, but Brooklyn Nets ones too, as he was on their team last season. One of them took a shot at Kevin Durant, suggesting that he’s the reason Brown isn’t on the team and Durant blasted the individual for it.
“At some point, Nets twitter has to stop making s*** up….I know, I know, I’m soft for this tweet. I’ll delete soon”

Considering Durant handed in two trade requests from the Nets in less than a year, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that the fans are still quite upset at him. The Durant and Kyrie Irving era promised championships, but instead, all the fans got was one playoff series win and a whole lot of controversy. While Durant states that Nets Twitter has to stop making up stuff, there is actually a good reason why this fan thinks KD had a role to play.
Bruce Brown Hinted At A Nets Player Not Wanting Him To Be Re-Signed
While the Nets look extremely foolish to let Brown walk, it doesn’t seem like it was something they wanted to do. During an appearance on the LeBatard Show last month, he revealed the front office wanted him back.
“To be honest, I don’t think it was the Nets front office organization who made that decision,” Brown said. “Because – what I’ve heard – they wanted me back… I don’t know who made the decision.”
(starts at 3:12 mark):
Now, there were only two players who could have had any real say on the roster and that’s Durant and Irving. Which of those two was it? Well, we’re unlikely to find that out for a very long time.
It would certainly explain the bizarre decision to let him walk, as you could argue that Brown was the biggest positive to come out of their sweep at the hands of the Boston Celtics last year. He averaged 14.0 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.8 APG, and 1.3 SPG, and if the two stars had played better, the Nets could have won that series.
